Dr Meg Forbes

Clinical Psychologist

Meg is a neurodivergent clinical psychologist known for her warm, evidence-based care for adults and children. She has a special interest in neurodivergence, trauma including dissociative disorders, and eating disorder recovery. Meg enjoys working with adults who discover their own neurodivergence later in life, often following their children's diagnoses. Meg understands the importance of working with parents develop strategies to support themselves while caring for their families.

Meg enjoys working with individuals recovering from complex trauma and dissociative disorders (including DID). In her eating disorder practice, she uses a weight-neutral approach that acknowledges the complex ways in which trauma, neurodivergence, and challenges with eating often intersect.

Having worked in both private practice and remote health services in Western Queensland, Meg is deeply committed to First Nations social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) and to providing compassionate, inclusive care for all.

Meg has lived in the Redlands for the last 20 years, raising her children to young adulthood here. Meg has lived experience of receiving late neurodivergent diagnoses as an adult, and of raising neurodivergent children both in the conventional school and the homeschooling systems here in Queensland.

In our initial session, we will explore your relevant background information, your goals, and your expectations for therapy in a supportive and confidential environment. Many people experience some anxiety ahead of their first session which is understandable given the vulnerable nature of many of the things clients would like to work on. It is important to be as honest as feels safe for you, as these discussions facilitate a collaborative foundation for our work together, and provide an opportunity for us both to ensure goodness-of-fit for the work that is most important to you.
